This prevents the penetration of water, alkalis, and acids. Stain protection against watermarks, smoke, soot, and nicotine stains. Consolidation of old and new plaster. Effective against efflorescence on masonry and plaster, and combats mold and dry rot. Neutralization of active lime and cement plaster. Important for emulsion paints to prevent color changes, especially with silicate paints.
